Apply for a Scholarship or Fellowship before June 1, 2016

Did you know that the National Swimming Pool Foundation® (NSPF®) offers both scholarships AND fellowships for the furtherment of education, aquatic facilities, and sanitary conditions? Every year, graduate students and post-doctoral fellows have the opportunity to gain additional support and funding from NSPF up to $2,000 if awarded one of the 24 honors.

The NSPF Scholarship Program was founded to honor public swimming pool or spa operators who have pursued further education to better protect public health by achieving the NSPF Certified Pool/Spa Operator® certification status.

Several Scholarship Awards are Available:

  • National Swimming Pool Foundation Board of Directors’ Scholarship Award (2) — $2,000
  • National Swimming Pool Foundation Scholarship Award (up to 12) — $1,000

How to Receive an NSPF Scholarship:
To be considered for any of the available scholarships, the applicant must be an ACTIVE Certified Pool/Spa Operator®, NSPF Instructor, or the immediate family member of an active CPO® Certification holder or NSPF Instructor and submit a completed application package. Only one scholarship can be awarded per applicant. Previous award recipients are ineligible for consideration.

The NSPF Fellowship Program was established to encourage and support graduate students and post-doctoral fellows who focus research in two areas associated with aquatic venues that are treated to maintain a sanitary condition (e.g. swimming pools, spas/hot tubs, therapy pools, water parks, etc.):

1.) Research to reduce the risk to people associated with – but not limited to – physical facility design, exposure to chemical or pathogenic contaminants, air quality, drowning, or entrapment, etc.

2.) Research to investigate and document the positive health consequences of aquatic activities against maladies such as – but not limited to – high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, heart disease, cancer, aging, physical therapy, arthritis, etc.

Several Fellowship Awards are Available:

National Swimming Pool Foundation® Fellowship (8) – A minimum of $ 1,000 per award

National Swimming Pool Foundation® Board Fellowship (2) – A minimum of $ 2,000 per award

How to Receive an NSPF Fellowship:
To apply and receive a fellowship, the applicant must be enrolled full-time and pursuing an advanced academic degree or a post-doctoral researcher at an academic institution, and of course include a completed fellowship application.

Deadline:
Both Scholarships and Fellowships are awarded for the fall semester of each year. To be considered for the fall 2016 semester, the completed application package must be received by NSPF no later than June 1, 2016.

Award Notification:
After careful review, recipients will be notified before or on August 1, 2016.
